Techstars Backed Workbnb Kickstarts Black History Month Winning RoadPitch NYC Competition Plus Selected For Sweater Venture's Barnburner Contest

"Winning season" is just heating up for Nevada-based, black-led travel technology startup, Workbnb, and east coast angel investor groups are eager to learn more about the highly anticipated Workforce Travel App designed by 'black women' since joining the inaugural RoadPitch tour.

Workbnb, Inc., a Techstars portfolio company, is experiencing above-average momentum from the pre-seed stage. Workbnb was selected to join the inaugural East Coast cohort for RoadPitch, a new fundraising roadshow for black tech founders raising capital. The concept of the "Amazing Race meets Shark Tank" was compelling to the Company's leadership, especially after winning a $25,000 grant from the People's shark Daymond John on Black Entrepreneurs Day last October.

"We know the Workbnb message is sticking, and we're determined to apply ourselves to get into more rooms than ever before," says Workbnb President Daj'Anique Staples.

The Company's CEO attributes several recent accomplishments to discipline instilled by Managing Director Tré Baker of the Build in Tulsa Techstars Accelerator and support from the Techstars network.

"We learned in Tulsa how to be ourselves and pitch to win," says Yeves Perez, CEO of Workbnb. "I already had the talent and energy, but I learned to cut words. I learned delivery, and I became a better storyteller. I also appreciated working with Rohan Brown because he encouraged me that the East Coast wants to hear the traction faster, so we made a small change to get ready to win on the road."

Workbnb toured five cities in 5 days, beginning in Boston on February 1st, and the RoadPitch tour consisted of three pitches per day per city. "We pitched at 9 am, then ran to another location to pitch at 1 pm, and then the evening events, we competed against local black founders! It was intense, and I'm grateful for all the feedback and connections made," says Perez. The tour continued to New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore and ended in Washington, DC. Workbnb proudly represented the #Tulsa12 and Nevada by winning the NYC competition and was recently featured in a new article by The Plug titled "On The Road: RoadPitch Curates Traveling Pitch Competition for Black Tech Founders."

One attendee said this about Perez's pitch performance: His confidence levels are something I've never seen before! Plus, the Company makes so much sense! I'm looking forward to seeing more updates from Workbnb!

Workbnb is just getting started for 2023. The Company released its first commercial during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January titled "Da Fuuu," which received high acclaim. The travel-tech startup is one of 75 companies to win $500K in Sweater Venture's Barnburner Competition. "Please download the Sweater app, and vote for Workbnb with a heart, if you believe traveling workers matter," says Staples.
