Multiplexer: Efficient Data Routing in Modern Digital Systems

A Multiplexer is a fundamental digital component used to select one input from multiple signals and forward it to a single output line. It plays a critical role in optimizing data flow, reducing hardware complexity, and improving system efficiency across electronic and communication systems.

In digital electronics, a Multiplexer operates using select lines that determine which input signal is transmitted at any given time. This controlled selection allows multiple data sources to share a single communication channel, saving bandwidth and lowering overall system cost. Because of this advantage, multiplexers are widely used in processors, memory management units, and data transmission networks.
